By public transport

By train and bus

You take the S-Bahn line 5 or 18 (regional transport) to Birmensdorf (direction Affoltern am Albis - Zug) leaving on the underground level. Departures every 30 min. (.04 and .34 min.). The train journey to Birmensdorf takes about 20 minutes. At Birmensdorf station you take the yellow PTT bus number 350 to the stop WSL/Sternen (2-3 min. ride in the direction of Zurich Wiedikon).

By tram and bus

Leave the main station in the direction of the lake and Bahnhofstrasse and take the tram number 14 to Goldbrunnenplatz (in the direction of Triemli). At the Goldbrunnenplatz stop you get off and wait for the yellow PTT buses (Postautos) number 350 (direction Berikon Widen) or 220 (direction Bonstetten Chrüzächer) that arrive at the same track as the trams and the blue buses of Zurich Public Transport (VBZ). The journey to WSL/Sternen takes about 10 min. Departures every 30 min. on weekdays. (.04 and .34 minutes past the hour).

Arriving at Zurich Airport

At the airport railway station you buy a one-way ticket to Birmensdorf ZH. (A return ticket is only valid for 24 hours!) You can get a ticket from the dispensing machine by entering the postal code 8903 for Birmensdorf. First you take any train to Zürich main station (Hauptbahnhof).

By car

Coming from the direction of Berne

On the motorway Bern-Zürich follow the signs St. Gallen/Flughafen from Limmattaler Kreuz then Flughafen/Zürich-Nordring/Urdorf in the lane for Urdorf.
Continue through the short tunnel "Honeret". Leave the motorway at exit Urdorf-Süd and continue straight on for about 3 km (Shell petrol station on right 1 km after tunnel) to Birmensdorf. At first traffic lights turn left up the hill, past Birmensdorf railway station, over the railway crossing. Continue uphill until you pass a gas station on the right, then turn sharp left into the entrance to WSL.

Coming from the direction of St. Gall

On the motorway Zürich-Bern, before reaching Zurich, follow the signs Zürich/Flughafen and then the signs for Transit/Flughafen/Zürich. Change to the left-hand lane when the sign for Bern/Basel/ Zürich-Nordring appears. When the lanes fork, keep left to Bern/Basel/Zürich-Nordring (Flughafen to the right). Continue following Bern/Basel/Zürich through the tunnel "Gubrist" (3.5 km long). Get into the left-hand lane, preferably before the end of the tunnel, especially if there is heavy traffic. Immediately after the tunnel, take the left-hand lane to Zürich/Urdorf (straight on is marked Bern/Basel). After a few meters, left again, following the signs for Urdorf. Continue through the short tunnel "Honeret". Leave the motorway at exit Urdorf-Süd and continue straight on for about 3 km (Shell petrol station on right 1 km after tunnel) to Birmensdorf. Coming from the direction of Sargans

Coming from Sargans, leave the motorway at the exit Brunau/Albisgütli and follow the road uphill to the traffic lights level with "Strassenverkehrsamt" (signpost). Here turn right into Schweighofstrasse and continue about 1.5 km until this road leads into Birmensdorferstrasse. Turn left here and follow the signs Luzern/Affoltern am Albis.
After Triemli (tram terminal, tall hospital buildings on left), follow the road about 1.5 km uphill to Uitikon (overhead traffic lights) and continue following the signs for Luzern straight on, slightly downhill. After about 800 meters you will see the hotel "Leuen" on the right; the turning into WSL is approximately 600 meters past this on the right.
