Biodiversity in Czech Forests
2025 - 2028
Strengthening biodiversity of selected taxonomic groups in selected forest biotopes owned
by the Forests of the Czech Republic.
The aim of the project is to mitigate the fragmentation of valuable forest habitats
through active management interventions in selected management forests owned by the Czech
State Forest (LCR). The project will result in reduced fragmentation of populations of
selected species and improved biodiversity and connectivity of their habitats. The main
benefit of the project is the implementation of extensive and complex, scientifically
based management procedures with significant impact on individual groups of animals. The
project will address major barriers or critical points for species migration in the
landscape, using expertise from WSL and the Czech Republic, the project team will attempt
to achieve the most effective solution to the issues linked with the forest fragmentation
and biodiversity. The project will also assess various trade-off scenarios of economic and
ecological aspects of the planned management interventions.
