The project examines how urban density (building types and density) and the diversity of green areas (structural and habitat diversity as proxies of biodiversity) jointly affect human well-being. It aims to provide evidence for sustainable urban development that balances densification with quality of life and biodiversity. In the three Nova City cities, GIS data and resident surveys with PPGIS and choice experiments are combined to assess interactions between the built environment, green space characteristics, and factors such as noise and heat.
The results identify which combinations are beneficial or detrimental to well-being. Based on these findings, a decision matrix and planning guidelines will be developed to support cities and property managers in creating climate-resilient, biodiverse, and health-promoting urban environments.
