WSL Seminar Series Talk:
More than nectar! Bee-plant interactions through the lense of chemistry
by Prof. Dr. Sara Leonhardt, Technical University of Munich, Freising, Germany
Abstract ¶
As visually oriented organisms, we classically have a very vision-centered view on biotic interactions. However, all organisms, including our own species, are to some degree driven by the chemistry of required resources, which ultimately determine their appropriateness. In this talk, I invite you to take a chemistry perspective, and I will use the intriguing interaction between bees and plants to illustrate the importance of chemistry for interaction outcomes, ecosystem functions and potentially even the resilience of organisms to environmental change. www.professoren.tum.de/en/leonhardt-sara-diana
