Since its founding in 1885, WSL has been investigating growth and yield of trees and forest stands. Findings of this research form a central basis for sustainable forest management. Today, the strategic goal of this research area is to understand how forests develop under the influence of different forest management regimes in a changing environment. WSL's experimental forest growth research plots are nowadays continued within the framework of the Experimental Forest Management Project (EFM).
