Research Interest

I work at the Swiss Federal Research Institute WSL since May 2021 and I have been studying mainly interactions among birds, insects, and trees. My research focus is on forest ecosystems and the role of resource pulses in influencing interactions in ecological networks. I also focus on the interactions of invasive species in natural and anthropogenic environments. I make extensive use of population and community models, with frequentist or Bayesian inference.

I have 10+ year experience in biodiversity ecological research, of which I can summarise the main points here:

  1. Research on species distribution and habitat selection, using field methods or existing databases;
  2. Research on biodiversity responses to human activities, including but not limiting to forestry, pastoralism, and human disturbance in urban habitats and roads;
  3. Research on interactions among species, co-existence and co-occurrence patterns in ecological communities;
  4. Research on ecological modelling.

My network for collaborations includes: 1) Swiss Ornithological Institute (CH); 2) Department of Environmental Biology, Sapienza University of Rome (IT); 3) Department of Health and Environmental Sciences, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, Suzhou, China; 4) the Department of Fish and Wildlife Sciences, University of Idaho; 5) Department of Earth and Life Sciences, University of Genoa (IT); 6) BIOPOLIS Program in Genomics, Biodiversity and Land Planning (PT); 7) Department of Marine Animal Conservation and Public Engagement Department, Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn (IT); 8) Department of Land, Environment, Agriculture and Forestry, University of Padova (IT); 9) Environment and Climate Change Canada
