This research project takes advantage of Swisswide historical aerial imagery to address
knowledge gaps in the history of Swiss habitats. We use deep learning and other machine
learning techniques to map Swiss habitats at 5 time steps. We characterise how the spatial
patterns of habitats have changed over time and the implications for biodiversity and
ecological infrastructure.
