Main research interests: Spatial ecology, spatial modelling, species distribution and connectivity, population genetics, riparian ecology, conservation ecology

Current position: Since 2014, I am a scientific staff member in the group biodiversity (C. Scheidegger). I work in the interdisciplinary project “River engineering and Ecology”, which provides scientific background for the revitalization of approximately 4'000 km of Swiss rivers coordinated by the Federal Office for the Environment (for information see www.rivermanagement.ch). My work focuses on ecological habitat modelling and simulations of dispersal of non-mobile organisms inhabiting riparian areas along rivers (plants, fungi, lichens, animals).

Visitor flow management

An agent-based visitor flow management tool that allows for mitigating the conflict between outdoor recreation and biodiversity conservation will be developed for two riverine environments (lower Wigger valley and upper Glatt valley).

Forschungsprojekt Tamariske: Genetische Untersuchungen von Myricaria germanica

Das Forschungsprojekt untersucht die genetische Vernetzung entlang der Isel und ihrer Zubringer mithilfe von neutralen, genetischen Markern. Die Rolle von Zubringerflüssen für den Genaustausch wird untersucht.

Flussgebietsmanagement

Wir erarbeiten ökologische und wasserbauliche Grundlagen zur Revitalisierung von Fliessgewässern und unterstützen so deren Planung und Umsetzung.
