Dann wurde die Musik mehr und mehr zum Hobby zugunsten der wissenschaftlichen Tätigkeit.

Seit 1984 wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin an der WSL, 1994 – 2006 Leiterin der Forschungsgruppe Bioindikationen. 1999 – 2010 Mitglied des ‚Editorial Board‘ der wissenschaftlichen WSL Zeitschrift ‚FoSnoLa, Forest, Snow and Landscape Research‘ und Leitung des Grossprojektes 'Von der Zelle zum Baum'. 2001 – 2017 'Ozone Validation Centre', 2001 – 2006 Lehrbeauftragte ETHZ, 2002 – 2008 IUFRO Leiterin der Einheit 7.01.02 ‚Mechanisms of Action and Indicator Development‘. 2006 Verleihung des Titels ‚Senior Scientist‘. 2006 – 2007 Leiterin der Forschungsgruppe Umweltwandel und Waldentwicklung, 2006 – 2012 des Grossprojekts ‚Querco‘. Berufliche Lebensaufgabe:
Die biotischen, anthropogenen und klimatischen Einflüsse hinterlassen makroskopische, mikroskopische und chemische Symptome. Diese Eindrücke in den Pflanzen, ihren Geweben und Zellen möchte ich immer besser lesen können.
